‘Dark Dancing’ series

“This series of works were initiated by my interest in The Surrealists, automatic writing, physic phenomena combining meditative practices & fasting to explore visual imagery. I found it at first very interesting and full of possibilities then perplexing. I continued creating works over a period of 12 to 18 months which incidentally brought about its own technique to which extended to portraiture after the period mentioned I decided not to continue the practises I have been involved with and leave the nude studies with their dark enigma. They were exhibited in Cameron Galleries in High Street, Armadale Victoria. However, I continued for a period to apply this methodology with portraiture – a great deal was learnt technically and to some extent is still being used today in my current work.” Adriano Gemelli
